Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse

St. Augustine

Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, an admiral from Spain, founded St. Augustine in the year 1565. After hundreds of years full of fighting between Spain and England, St. Augustine finally was given to the United States in 1865 with Florida.

You’ll find the oldest city of the U.S.A. 50 miles north of Daytona Beach. Today a lot of historical buildings give evidence of the eventful past, like the Cathedral-Basilika and the Castillo de San Marcos (built between 1672 and 1695).

Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse

The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse is one of the tallest of its species in the United States and, with 175 feet in height, even the tallest in Florida. The lighthouse was erected in the year 1835 in Ponce Inlet, south of Daytona Beach. In 1998 it became a National Historic Landmark. The keeper’s dwellings and the lighthouse have been restored, and at present it is open to the public. You’re welcome...

The Walt Disney World Resort is a complex of four different theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom), two water parks, and 23 hotels. Located near Orlando/Florida, opened its doors in the year 1971. One hour driving time from Daytona Beach - direction southwest - and you’ll be there.  

Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Center is the installation of the NASA that operates and manages America’s astronaut launch facilities. It’s located on Merritt Island, 60 miles south of Daytona Beach.
