Daytona Beach was founded in the year 1870 by Matthias Day. The, at the time, three separate towns ‘Daytona Beach’, ‘Daytona’ and ‘Seabreeze’ finally merged in the year 1926 to ‘Daytona Beach’. Since the 1920’s Daytona Beach has the nickname ‘The World’s Most Famous Beach’.

The Halifax River lagoon splits Daytona Beach on the east-west axis into two areas, connected by seven bridges. Ormond Beach and Holy Hill are bordering Daytona Beach in the north, and Daytona Beach Shores and Port Orange in the south.

A new day’s born in Daytona,

the rising sun lights up the sky,

you feel so well in Florida,

all pain is gone, don’t ask me why!

Hard compressed sand which has allowed generations spectacular car races at the beach, has created the historical reputation of Daytona Beach as a mecca for motor sports. In 1959, William F. C. France created NASCAR and the Daytona International Speedway, which replaced the races at the beach.
